89 – Garnet color with moderate aromas of mushrooms and herbs. Dry, medium bodied wine presenting hints of soft smoke and leather. We paired this wine with a pizza as I often find that I love Tuscan wines, especially Chiantis, with such food. Tuscany is known for having a bottle of wine on any given dinner table on any given day so its only fitting to enjoy a glass of this beauty with one of my favorite foods. Other pairings may include pastas and veal dishes. I think the bottle was appropriately priced and I would buy again. 89

I will be the first to admit that lately, I generally do not pick up a Chianti as my first choice when wine shopping, my Italian ancestors would probably roll in their you-know-what’s.
So, the other night, David and I were planning on ordering a big, thin-crust pizza for dinner and this lucky wine was chosen to pair with our meal.
From bottle to glass, this Felsina Chianti had a deep and jammy burgundy appearance that was strikingly clear with no sediment. The legs were thick and incredibly slow. I noted scents of rhubarb with mild floral accents and a light and crisp hint of crabapple tree flowers.
On the palate, notes of oak, earth, fruit, flowers, lime and grapefruit were noted. Cherries and flowers seemed to dominate the initial flavor of the sip followed by mild rhubarb coming through at the end.
This Chianti has a full body and bold demeanor that you will notice right away with your first sip, all the way through to your last enjoyable swig of this bottle. It is a great combination of bold yet smooth and paired deliciously well with our pizza.
